Kierin Mackenzie

thesis-kmckenzieKierin Mackenzie is a PhD candidate with the Anthropology program of the School of Social and Political Studies at the University of Canterbury. He is working under Piers Locke, and will be looking at interrelations between elephant cultures, human cultures and the environment through the lens of the perceptions of traditional elephant keepers. He is currently looking at using a “Use and Occupancy Mapping” approach, and plans to do fieldwork in the protected areas of the Western Ghats between Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
